First, let me start out by saying that Pat at The Red Hook Country Inn saved my wedding night!!! We had just gotten married and we were supposed to go to another B&B but it was absolutely awful! Pat made us feel at home immediately. The house is filled with amazing antiques and the bed was incredibly comfy. Our room also had a wonderful fireplace and tub, which was so relaxing after being on our feet all day. The breakfast was SPECTACULAR. ). We called up The Red Hook Country Inn and they had a room available (a very rare occurrence- book early!). Pat was such a gracious host. Nabil is a classically trained chef and made the most amazing eggs Benedict I’ve ever had. Be sure to check out Maggie”s Royaltea in the back part pf the inn! For all friends and family traveling to the Hudson Valley, staying at The Red Hook Country Inn is a must!
Gorgeous B&B in a pretty area of NY. Comfortable bed – wonderful inn keepers – AMAZING breakfast supplied by a world traveled chef! Our room even had a hundred year old bar in it! Very comfy stay. And they were great with our dog.
My son and I had a great stay at the Red Hook Country Inn! The owners went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. We had a beautiful room with a fire place and very comfortable beds. Homemade breakfast was delicious, made with fresh milk and eggs straight from the farm. We had a fantastic stay and will highly recommend it.
Home Away From HomeThis was my very first stay at a B&B. My preference is always a Marriott property. However, there are none in Red Hook. So I took a chance with the Red Hook Country Inn. When I made my reservation, directly with the Owner, she offered to arrange a taxi for me. Upon my arrival, the taxi was not there. I called her to let her know and she dropped everything and came to scoop me up personally. It only got better. The home was lovely. My room was immaculate and very well appointed. The bed and linens were fresh and clean. The location was within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The people were gracious and kind. This was my first time traveling alone in 23 years. My safety was of paramount importance to me. As soon as I stepped inside the Inn, my concerns disappeared. Plus, the local police department was directly across the street! My thanks to all at the Red Hook Inn. I hope to see you again!
Outstanding warmth & service! This is my second review on tripadvisor. The last review was for a “five star” hotel in Portugal which was in reality just barely two stars. This review is the polar opposite, I can’t recommend the Red Hook Inn highly enough. We went to the beautiful Hudson Valley with our family. Bard College recommended the Red Hook Inn, I can understand why! Everything way exceeded our expectations. Pat and Nabil are outstanding hosts with fantastic tips about visiting the area. Pat also shared her story about the history of the Red Hook Inn from a house used in the underground railroad to an anti prohibition entertainment venue to its current glory today. Nabil’s breakfasts were truly outstanding! The rooms were very comfortable and quiet and the bathrooms were quite clean. Keurig coffee makers and refrigerators were easily accessible. The breakfast room was very well appointed. They even were gracious with our standard poodle. Excellence and warmth, definitely recommend highly!
Unexpected Compassion. Nicest owner ever. From the start I knew I had found a gem. Planning to spend a nite at the Red Hook in before visiting Bard College with our son, I sent a quick inquiry. The owner responded promptly, even though she was on vacation. At the last minute, we decided to cancel the trip. My son was too stressed out with the whole college process to visit one more school while awaiting early decision responses. I called to cancel just a few hours before we were expected to arrive. We knew that no bed and breakfast could eat a last minute cancellation like that, and it was in our minds, a sunk cost. But the owner asked what happened, and I told her, and then I had to talk her out of not charging us at all, even though they had already shopped for breakfast for us. She agreed only to wait and hear from us in 30 days, in case we should decide to rebook. And she asked about the other schools he is looking at, and offered to connect my son with any professors at Bard. Nicest inn owner ever. Just for that, since my son did get in to his first choice, my husband and I will probably book a little grownups only getaway there. Now that’s hospitality!
Maggie’s Royal Tea Room. The Red Hook Country Inn has a new, added attraction: Maggie’s Royal Tea Room! And, with a reservation, you don’t need to be a guest at the Inn to enjoy the Tea Room. It is very elegant with old china tea pots as decorations. You enter through a beautiful and well tended garden with a gazebo and gorgeous flowers. Clotted cream was the highlight of the tea and finger sandwiches and sweets are baked on-site. The service is great. The wait staff is friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The Tea Room is a destination all by itself or as tasty addition to a stay at the Inn. My friend and I went to celebrate her birthday. It was an afternoon well spent.

The story below is how Maggie’s came to be!
Our RoyalTea Room is named after my Mom, Maggie McDade, a ‘Scot” who loved COFFEE! So, why name a Tea Room after her? Well, Maggie and her sister, my Godmother, Aunt Betty were known to ‘put up the kettle to “burl water’ for anyone & everyone who arrived at our home in NJ. Maggie was a feisty “Brooklynite” who married my sweet Norwegian Dad, aka Tom-Eddie-Pete and they raised 5 of us in Central Jersey in a house filled with friends and family at all times. Dad was the ‘Good Samaritan” who drove a truck along the NJTP every night and brought home stragglers, gave them hot tea, shared his dinner, set up a bed on the well used sofa and $5 in the morning as he dropped them back in the direction they were heading. Those were the days!
It’s not so far fetched that I have a Bed & Breakfast and now, Maggie’s RoyalTea!
We are still working on our menu and my husband Nabil, (former chef to Jackie Kennedy Onassis) is designing a unique selection of sandwiches and Irish scones. My friends, aka “The Golden Girls”, Peg, Elaine & Sharon, will be handling the 12-16 person tea salon. It is located in the multi-window Carriage House we built behind the inn which is fully wheelchair accessible. While we are opening with a limited schedule of Saturday & Sunday, and seasonal time frame, (May – November), we hope that we become popular as a location to enjoy a “spot of tea’, a plate of interesting finger sandwiches, fabulous Irish scones with clotted cream and preserves, and delectable sweets. Our 5 tables will be a great spot to bring your young daughters, girlfriends, boyfriends and/or family members where you can chat away in comfort with quiet central air and a sweet fireplace!
Please stop in to visit us and keep an eye out for our upcoming menu! We will also offer Maggie’s for small catering, intimate weddings, showers and ‘Tea Parties’. Oh, Maggie’s will also have great COFFEE…maybe even Turkish!
